A swollen battery cannot wait

If the back cover is bulging or the screen is lifting at one corner, the battery has started producing gas. Do not charge it, do not press it back down, and do not leave it in a hot car. Charging habits, and which ones matter

Apple's optimised charging exists for exactly this reason, so leave it switched on. Staying between 20 and 80 percent does extend life, though nobody manages that in real life and you should not lose sleep over it.

The first week with a new cell

The percentage reading can behave oddly for a few days. Your phone has not learned the true capacity of the new cell yet, and after a couple of full cycles it settles. On an iPhone you may also see a battery message in settings; that notice is Apple flagging a non original part and it does not affect how the battery performs. A new battery draining faster on day one is normal too, since the phone is busy re indexing in the background.

What to bring, and what we never ask for

Just the phone. Leave the case and screen protector on, we deal with those. We do not ask for your passcode, and if a test needs the phone unlocked you type it in yourself at the counter. If the battery is swollen, carry it loose rather than squeezed into a tight bag. Walk in and wait, or drop it off and come back; on common models it is usually done inside the hour.
